MESA, Arizona, February 2002 - "There's always something happening at Famous Sam's." Famous Sam's™ Restaurant and Sports Bars, the 39-year-old Arizona company known for satisfying food and a variety of entertainment at its locations, announces the opening of Famous Sam's at 430 N. Power Road in Mesa (Power Road and University, 480-924-8778). Grand opening festivities have been scheduled for Tuesday, February 26th, beginning at 11 a.m. and include food and drink specials, as well as great giveaways.

The Power Road Famous Sam's is owned by franchisee George Smith. Smith was raised in the Valley and is a graduate of Coronado High School and Arizona State University. Smith, who refers to himself as "just an old baseball player," said: "I've always wanted to own my own sports bar and grill. I've always enjoyed that atmosphere and clientele.
"This is a growing part of Mesa," Smith said about the Power Road location. "We like the demographics. It's proximal to Salt River Project, the city of Mesa and new single and multi-family housing communities. We provide a neighborhood family escape, a good place to eat and premier sports viewing."

The Famous Sam's on Power Road with seating for 150 features karaoke on Wednesday and Thursday evenings beginning at 9 p.m. A variety of sporting events can be viewed on six side-by-side 53-inch TVs, one of which is an HDTV (high definition TV).
Famous Sam's all-day menu features a variety of enjoyable offerings - salads, pastas, daily specials and Famous Sam's famous overstuffed/oversized "Samwiches." A popular choice is the hot pastrami and cheese that weighs in at a hefty half-pound. Current menu prices range from $4 to $12. Beverage offerings include soft drinks, beer (on tap plus 22 bottled varieties) and other spirits available from the full bar.

Famous Sam's on Power Road and University is open daily from 10:30 a.m. to 1 a.m.
